Tillsonburg has historically been strong in the automotive parts manufacturing and agricultural sectors. In 2011, the community took its first steps toward developing a renewable energy cluster.

In 2012, ultra high speed fibre optic infrastructure was installed in the business and industrial areas. The new Rapid Fibre network delivers data transmission rates of up to 1000 mbps--thereby opening up opportunities for Tillsonburg to prosper in Canada's digital economy.
